Social engineering is a technique to get people to do things they normally wouldn't do. In this presentation, I go through some of the more interesting quirks we have as social beings and how that can be used either for us, or, against us.

Every time we go online, we leave a virtual trail about who we are, what we are doing and potentially where we are going. In this presentation, I will ask for a volunteer to allow me to perform an identity hack on them. I will then show how easy it is for anyone to uncover potentially sensitive information about a victim and how this can be used against them. It can be a confronting demonstration, and my goal is not to scare the audience, but to enlighten them about how they can follow some simple steps to be safer online.
A light hearted look at how scams have evolved from the simple friendship request, to romance scams, phone porting, ransomeware and deep fake scams. You'll also learn tips and tricks on how you can stay safer online.
